An estimated 85% of wisdom teeth will eventually need to be removed

Stress-free wisdom teeth removal

Wisdom teeth or third molars tend to erupt into the mouth in the late teens or the early twenties. Sometimes there is a mismatch in the size of the teeth and the size of the jaws leading to impactions.

Impactions can lead to a number of oral health complications including;

  • Pain
  • Infection
  • Tooth Crowding
  • Cyst Formation
  • Ulcerations
  • Food traps
  • Caries (Decay)

In such cases we recommend extraction.

At Adelaide Dental Solutions we can take diagnostic images via our digital radiographs (xrays) and assess whether it is safe to remove the wisdom teeth in the chair or whether you require specialist referral and hospitilization.

Signs you need your wisdom teeth removed

Signs of erupting wisdom teeth include an aching jaw, aching teeth and a strange sensation when eating. A tooth that only erupts partway leaves a large area of gum tissue vulnerable to infection, which can become quite painful.

By x-raying your gums we can determine the state of your wisdom teeth and decide on removal before they cause you pain and secondary health problems.

Supporting you every step of the way

The nature of wisdom teeth means the extraction may need to happen at different times for different situations, and may need to be undertaken either here at the surgery or in a hospital setting.

You can rest assured that when you come to us you’ll be in expert hands. After making an accurate diagnosis, we will advise you on the safest and most effective course of action for your wisdom teeth.
