Prevention is better than cure – tooth be told!

At Adelaide Dental Solutions, long-term oral health starts with prevention

Our preventative care team will produce a customised oral hygiene solution to ensure your teeth and gums are kept in optimal condition. Preventative care is very important to your oral health. Neglect of the teeth and gums can lead to tooth mobility, tooth decay (caries), halitosis (bad breath), gingivitis and periodontitis.

Apart from the implications to your oral health, periodontitis is also linked to systemic disease including;
  • Heart Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Respiratory Disease
  • Liver Disease
  • Kidney Disorders

Preventative care is a key ingredient to a long healthy lifestyle

At Adelaide Dental Solutions as a part of your preventative care regime we recommend;
  1. Regular professional checkup and gum care appointments
  2. Home preventative care including brushing, flossing and a medicated mouthwash
  3. Diet low in acids and sugars
  4. Appropriate water intake

Book 6-monthly check-ups for your health (and your wallet)

Like servicing your car regularly, good preventative dental care now means less chance of expensive fixes in the future. In most cases Adelaide Dental Solutions recommends 6-monthly dental check-ups for long-term tooth and gum health. Poor tooth and gum health has been linked to systemic disease such as heart disease and Alzheimer’s.

Fissure sealants

Fissures are deep grooves in the biting surfaces of your teeth. During your check-up, we may recommend sealing these with a resin coating to prevent dental plaque and acids from causing decay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I go to the dentist?

In most cases we recommend getting a check-up and clean every 6 months.

My teeth are fine. Can’t I just wait until there’s a problem?
Even if you brush and floss regularly, without a regular clean at the dentist you can still acquire tooth and gum diseases. A comprehensive exam will detect the early onset of any problems so we can address them before they cause major damage.
What’s involved in my preventative care appointment?
Your first appointment is a comprehensive 1-hour examination, where we will discuss all findings and potential treatment plans.
Do you provide sedation?
Yes, we offer penthrox sedation and IV sedation which can be arranged with a specialist anaesthetist. We have medical professionals within our facility who can also provide pharmacological sedation.
Do you offer preventative care for children?
Yes, our oral health therapists Chiara and Madeline provide comprehensive treatment for children up to the age of 18. They know how to make children feel safe and comfortable for the duration of their visit.
Do you offer payment plans?
Zip Pay is available for all of our services. You will have to sign up for Zip Pay separately, which will allow you to pay off your treatment in regular instalments.
